Over the years the winds of life and circumstances have led me along a path, some roadways darker than others, some shining brightly, as I look back on some of the photos, it seems more than a few of my smiles have been captured with a body of
water in the background. Likewise the pictures I'm drawn to snap and capture are often sunsets and water related... Perhaps Nomadic with a hint of sea spray could best describe my spirit of shallow rooted travels and adventures.
Well.......... I'm off
again.... for the past 40+ years I've stood on more than a few coastlines up and down the Pacific of Oregon, California and of course Washington and Mexico's western coastlines The opportunity to look out on the Andalusian South East coast of Spain, the waters
of the Mediterranean and the straits of Gibraltar gave another perspective of what lays just beyond the breakers and far off horizons.
The opportunity has now been brought forth by the crossroads of life coupled with the kismet steering of fate. My travels
this leg of the trip, aka, my life are taking me to a Sausilito California boat slip, arriving on the 1st of June, departing on the 4th for the Hawaiian islands aboard a 43' Gulfstar sail boat. The same 'sailing' website, www.latitude38.com that took me north
4 years ago, has served me well in this break from reality.
Our trek will be approximately 3400 miles, 20-22 days (+/-) to travel the 2300 miles to Hawaii, we must go south, to catch the trade winds north for a true sail into Kauai. There's
no anchoring in a protected cove as I did northbound, no stops to re-supply the foods and other essentials for the trip. Three men, winds and some great navigational equipment will have us arrive, eager to kiss the red dirt of Hawaii. The opportunity to follow
along wth our GPS tracking is available (on the 4th) @ www.footloosefred.com
